Whenever people hear “trade up”, they typically think of cars; trading in that old beater for a brand spanking new (or gently used) auto of greater value. There was even an ad running here in Arizona a while back that said “Push, pull, tug or tow”, one in another state used “push, pull, tow or drag” to demonstrate how you could get your old beater car into one of their dealerships to trade it in for a new car.
This got me thinking about reasons people would trade in their car. I’m sure there are cars that do not even run, the engine and motor complete disabled or disconnected. There are cars with dents and scars that make it appear to no longer be of good quality or of service. There are cars that were a result of an impulse decision that no longer makes sense for their lifestyle (that mid-life crisis corvette that at 60 you struggle to get in and out of). There are cars that are too small or too large for the current family size, and maybe even cars that will no longer go where the person needs to go (a convertible in Michigan in the winter may not work out well).
So how many people think they are just exhausted from running from their past and they just can’t run anymore? How many people are feeling disconnected from life because they don’t feel loved and accepted? How many people are wearing visible (and non-visible) scars on their hearts, and they don’t see their own value any longer? How many people are walking in shame because of their impulse decisions? Are there others that feel like they have outgrown their current circumstance but are frozen with fear of the unknown?
This is what Trading Up is all about! Realizing that with Christ, you don’t have to run anymore, you can have scars and dents, you can push, pull, tug, drag and tow all your anxieties, hurts, fears and past decisions and lay them at His feet, at the cross. He will take them ALL! And in return, you will get the greatest exchange ever offered!
Salvation, Peace, Belonging, Joy, and so much more!
Beloved, you are Loved, Chosen, Forgiven, Accepted and Predestined as a Child of God! (Ephesians 1). Don’t settle for less! You have great value in the Kingdom of God! Begin today and Trade Up to a better life!
Ministry verse: “..to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair” (Isaiah 61:3 NIV)
